Jurisdiction

The Government of Canada defines companies that are federally regulated and covered by the Canada Labour Code ( http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/L-2/ ).  A business not covered by the Canada Labour Code would be provincially or territorially regulated and subject to provincial or territorial legislation.

While some provincial/territorial legislation applies to all businesses within the jurisdiction, other provincial/territorial legislation applies to certain businesses only, depending on factors such as the number of employees.

Information on this site is specific to provincially-regulated employers in Ontario.

You are always encouraged to seek professional/legal advice.
